The Post-Novitiate: Toward the Final Vow

After the novitiate, the young Franciscan places greater emphasis on philosophical and theological formation without neglecting the human and spiritual aspects. The path of formation leads to solemn profession, the definitive “yes,” a lifelong commitment. Saying “yes” to God forever is not to be taken lightly. It is about loving God and one’s brothers throughout one’s life. A wonderful project, but one that requires thorough preparation. The young Franciscan in formation strengthens his heart to love without limits; he strengthens his intellect to become a steadfast apostle; he strengthens his spirit to breathe God into his life; he strengthens his joy so that it may be contagious.

Meanwhile, the young man is also accompanied by formator brothers who help him discern “how to be a brother.” Indeed, some brothers are called to be priests, while others are not. Each has a specific vocation.
