Ordination
Priestly ordination
During initial formation, young Franciscans also discern, together with their formators, whether they are called to the priesthood. Being a priest is not a personal achievement; nor does it confer social power. God calls certain brothers to the priesthood to serve humanity and to transmit, through the sacraments, all spiritual blessings.
The priest is ordained to sanctify, govern, and teach in the manner of Jesus. A priest is not a leader but a shepherd, like Jesus (cf. Jn 10).
