Ordination
Priestly Ordination
During initial formation, the young Franciscan also discerns, together with his formators, whether he is called to the priesthood. Being a priest is not a personal achievement; nor does it confer social power. God calls certain brothers to the priesthood to serve humanity and to transmit, through the sacraments, all spiritual blessings.
A priest is ordained to sanctify, govern, and teach in the manner of Jesus. A priest is not a leader but a shepherd, like Jesus (cf. Jn 10).
